Effie Bourne
I have been in the hair and fashion industry for over 20 years. I started off at the age of 18 in Washington, interning in different salons, gathering not only technical skills, but people skills as well.
Then I decided to head south to San Francisco to change things up. And WOW – what a fun place for fashion! But the rain was still not for me, so I ventured even more south.
I worked on Fashion Island in Newport Beach for two years, choosing to master in haircutting with Toni & Guy, the world renowned hair salon that is always fashion forward and very edgy. I learned so much there and really developed my skills in a wide range of hairstyles: funky, trendy, classic – it’s all fun to me.
But it was through multiple weekend holidays to San Diego that I found my true home and I have lived here now for over 18 years, landing myself in Del Mar. Here I work with clientele to find ways for them to always look their best.
If you were to ask my favorite things to do it would be colors, cuts and extensions. Subtle upgrades or drastic makeovers, it’s blast to me. Everyone’s hair is different and I see beauty and enjoyment in working with all. It’s all about you!

My eye for all things aesthetically pleasing has controlled my very being since I can remember. My formative years were spent traveling the world through an exciting and always unexpected modeling career.
Over the course of a decade in the industry I found myself wanting more. After a bit of soul searching I realized that being behind the camera as part of the creative process was much more gratifying.
After years in the industry I had developed a keen sense of fashion and style and was searching for a way to utilize what I had learned. I found myself gravitating towards the hair industry and decided to attend Paul Mitchell’s exceptional program.
That decision became the beginning of an incredibly rewarding career as a hair stylist. I have never looked back and have loved and appreciated every minute of it.
